Percussion, the heartbeat of music and life itself, has transcended time and culture, serving as a means of entertainment and communication. In Tomputer, SHERMVN (Ziaire Trinidad Sherman) explores the concept of a drum circle in a world where physical resonating instruments no longer exist. Utilizing a minimalist approach, employing only three distinct timbres and Through the integration of live coding techniques, SHERMVN transports the essence of a drum circle from the campgrounds to centerstage. The immersive nature created by spatial audio envelops listeners and blurs the boundaries between participant and observer. It evokes a sense of being both a dancer and a member of the audience simultaneously.
Ziaire Trinidad Sherman used tidal cycle and supercollider to perform this piece through code. He also used Blender to create modals of percussion instruments to be visually manipulated live using videosync in Ableton Live.
