“ Different, and flexible voices that lend themselves to a collective effort which expresses each composer's idea, creating a complete and diverse journey. We don't know what will happen until the moment happens.

Our Intent is to invite you into this energy“

- Sir Kahil El’Zabar

This performance is a celebration! A ceremony that gathers musical ancestries through a collective manifestation of improvised spirit. In One Long Breath, we explore the depths of intercultural and intergenerational artistic exchange through the harmonizing of our vast and varied practices. {The Five Movements} describe our experience of this time together, highlighting individual talents, lessons learnt from one another, and improvised experimentation through the nurturing guidance of Mentoring Artist, Sir Kahil El’Zabar.

Intention begins with a soundscape using materials found in the New Smyrna area, an invitation to the space where we all meet together and bear witness as we begin our journey through sound and time. Anchor looks at processes of rooting and grounding, at the sign of the crossroads where the ocean meets the land below. Euphoria marks a point of resistance, experimentation - a playful duality simultaneously pulled in out and out time. Through counterpoint and dynamic interplay, Epiphany finds us where we stand and serves as an opportunity to explore the previously unknown, an ode to the minimalist and the expansive. Manifestation is the culmination of that single breath weaving in and out of time, through processes of collective sharing and intergenerational composition.
