FIRE+FIRE

Fire+Fire explores the emotive qualities of what happened before and after Malcome Browne’s Burning Monk. The main source of reference for this piece is Malcome Browne’s interview with Time Magazine recounting this event. Leading up to the event, Browne had been the only one in the American press who took heed to the warning presented by the Buddhist monks. He didn’t know what was gonna happen but he knew it was gonna be spectacular event. The arpeggio figure at the beginning is representative of being in the know about the unknown. This is followed up with evolving yet steady elements, such as percussion and saxophone. This leads to the euphoric moment of taking the photograph, which stemmed the pursuit of trying to get it back to America, in a timely manner.

This piece was part of an EP developed by SHERMVN for his undergraduate thesis at Berklee College of Music, under the guidance of Neil Leonard (Terrance Blanchard, Whitney Museum of American Art)

All parts produced, played, and mixed by Ziaire Trinidad Sherman
